Roblox offers a variety of parental controls to help parents and caregivers support their child’s experience on the platform. These tools allow parents to control the type of content their child has access to, who their child’s Connections are, and how much time they are allowed to spend on Roblox each day.
Roblox is fundamentally different from other platforms and our standards are deliberately more stringent. Our Community Standards are designed to help users of all ages feel safe and welcome on the platform. By default, text filters block the sharing of personally identifiable information (such as email addresses and phone numbers) and requests to move a conversation off of Roblox onto another platform. We do not allow user-to-user sharing of images.
By the start of 2026, all users who want to communicate on Roblox will need to confirm their age via Facial Age Estimation or ID verification. Then, Roblox will only allow people to chat in similar age groups unless they are confirmed as Trusted Connections.
Roblox’s privacy tools allow users to hide their online status, limit or block who can communicate or interact with them, personalize their ads, and access or delete their data. We proactively monitor for suspicious activity, and open-source our safety innovation to advance the industry. Users can protect their Roblox accounts by creating a strong password, adding an email address or phone number, setting up a passkey, and turning on 2-step verification.
Users can chat with others on Roblox in two main ways: Experience Chat (chat inside experiences) and Party Chat (chat outside of experiences). Each serves a different purpose and follows distinct rules that aim to keep chat safe and age-appropriate.
Enables real-time text and voice chat for users while they are in the same Roblox experience. Messages appear in a live, scrolling feed, either publicly or between two users (Direct Experience Chat). By default, Experience Chat and Direct Experience Chat are fully filtered to block inappropriate content, personally identifiable information, links, and images.
This is Roblox’s direct messaging system. It allows users age 13 or older to use text or voice chat outside of experiences, either individually or with groups. By default, Party Chat is filtered to prevent the sharing of inappropriate content, personally identifiable information, links, images, and videos. Users who’ve confirmed their age as 13 or older can chat more freely with their Trusted Connections, with all conversations monitored for critical harm (like grooming).

Every experience, avatar, outfit, and item on Roblox is created by users, ranging from first-time coders to experienced game developers. All of this content is reviewed by our systems before it appears on the platform. Experiences on Roblox are also rated with content maturity labels to help players and parents understand what content is appropriate for them. Parents can adjust what type of content their child can access based on what makes sense for their family.
By the start of 2026, Roblox will require all users to complete an age check in order to access our on-platform communication features. A combination of Facial Age Estimation technology, ID age verification, and verified parental consent will provide a more accurate measure of a user's age. Roblox will only allow people to chat in similar age groups unless they are confirmed as Trusted Connections. These added layers of protection will help provide users with access to age-appropriate features and content. We believe this move will set a standard that other gaming, social media, and communication platforms will follow.
People of all ages and backgrounds use Roblox to learn to code, design, and create. With intuitive tools and a simplified coding language, creators are free to design and publish their own experiences and content at no cost. They can map out new worlds, make their own rules, and customize gameplay at a granular level.
While the majority of users adhere to the Community Standards, the reporting feature is the best way to let Roblox know about rule-breakers and inappropriate content. A report is sent directly to Roblox for review and action is taken if a policy violation is found.
