How Roblox is Transforming Recruiting with Immersive 3D Experiences

The goal of our Talent Acquisition Team is to transform recruiting into an engaging, interactive experience. The tools we use need to capture candidates’ attention, showcase our technology and culture, foster ongoing connections with candidates, and ignite excitement about joining Roblox from the very first interaction. To stand out in today’s competitive landscape and attract the best talent, we are building parts of our recruiting process entirely on the Roblox platform. Today we are excited to share the Roblox Industry Space, a new immersive experience designed to engage candidates who are already in the interview process.

Our first immersive recruiting space, the Roblox Career Center, launched last August for early career candidates. Since its launch, the Career Center has been visited more than 5 million times by candidates coming to explore job opportunities, engage with recruiters, attend live events, and interview.

Building on the Success of the Roblox Career Center

The goals of the Roblox Career Center are to increase awareness of and interest in Roblox among early career talent and to offer people new ways to engage with our recruiting team and leaders. Armed with a year’s worth of feedback and results, we now have a clear picture of the Career Center’s impact so far.

A Powerful Tool for Connecting and Engaging

Since its launch, the Career Center has proved to be a powerful complement to our Roblox Careers website. In fact, during this year’s peak hiring season, the Career Center experience on Roblox saw nearly three times the traffic and more than four times the time spent on the website. Some of the candidates who visited the Career Center have told us it helped them gain a more in-depth understanding of the technology Roblox is developing and what it’s like to work here.

“I visited the Career Center after my first interview, and it made me think, ‘This could actually be me,’” said Hailey Bixler, who became a software engineer in our Economy Group in July. “The Career Center was the main way I got to see what Roblox was actually like and visualize myself there. It made me want to learn more about the company and get excited about what they do.”

Rafael Sunico, a software engineer in our User Group who joined in February, said, “I had some experience with Roblox before applying, but I didn’t fully understand what engineers actually worked on inside the company. Seeing it firsthand was eye-opening. Experiencing this in Roblox felt so engaging—it fired up every part of my brain.”

The Talent Acquisition Team has hosted three immersive events in the Career Center so far, including two fireside chats with Roblox senior leadership and employees. Attendees found the format and content highly engaging, with an average rating of 7.9 out of 10.

Large event in the Career Center

Ryan Chan, a software engineer who joined our User Group in July, said, “Being able to engage within the product was a fun way to learn more about Roblox. Additionally, the voice chat feature allowed me to meet other candidates, making it more welcoming.”

The Roblox Industry Space: A New Space for More Experienced Candidates

Lobby of the Roblox Industry Space

With the success of the Career Center for our early career candidates, we saw an opportunity to bring some of the same benefits to candidates who have several years of industry experience and are in the interview stage. In May, we launched the Roblox Industry Space. Like its predecessor, this experience was designed to increase interest in Roblox and improve candidate engagement.

Roblox is always growing and evolving, and we wanted a way to showcase the latest launches and innovations to bring the platform to life for these experienced candidates. The Industry Space lets them experience the platform firsthand to explore our technology, learn about our work, and get a feel for our culture—all from within Roblox.

Some of the places you can visit:

  • Avatar Museum –Explore the evolution of Roblox avatars and customize a new one.

  • Podcast Lounge –Preview episodes of the Roblox Tech Talks Podcast with Dave Baszucki.

  • Innovation Lab & Tech Center –Take a deep dive into our innovations and the tech driving them.

  • The Office –Hear directly from builders about what they love about working at Roblox.

  • Central Plaza –Explore curated experiences showcasing what’s possible on Roblox.

For Jason Xie, a recent new hire and a senior machine learning engineer in our Trust & Safety Engineering Group, the Industry Space was instrumental in shaping his views of Roblox. “It made me realize how collaborative and unique the culture here is,” said Xie. “It was a refreshing contrast to other places I interviewed, where it was hard to gauge the company’s culture. At Roblox, I felt like I belonged right away.”

Exploring New Ways to Reach and Engage on Roblox

We plan to continue building on the success we’ve seen so far and to build Roblox experiences for more audiences. In September, we launched the Brands Experience to help brands and agencies become familiar with the Roblox platform and see our advertising solutions in practice.

As we continue to craft new ways to leverage our platform for recruitment and beyond, we remain committed to creating spaces that inspire, educate, and engage audiences of all kinds. Whether someone is looking to join Roblox, advertise a brand, or simply learn more about how Roblox is shaping the future of work, now is the perfect time to dive in.
